New Weather System in Bay of Bengal May Bring Heavy Rain to Chennai on November 1-2
A new weather system in the Bay of Bengal could bring heavy rainfall to Chennai on November 1-2, with uncertainty surrounding its intensity and path.

Chennai, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : A new weather system is developing in the Bay of Bengal, leading meteorologists to predict heavy rainfall in Chennai on November 1 and 2. However, uncertainty remains regarding the system’s intensity, direction, and likelihood of making landfall.
Experts are monitoring conditions in the Bay of Bengal, where a low-pressure area may form. They suggest that this system could strengthen and move toward northern Tamil Nadu. If it evolves into a cyclone, there is a possibility it could strike the coast between Chennai and Andhra Pradesh.
Despite these predictions, it is still unclear whether a cyclone will form or where it might make landfall. This forecast follows the recent passage of Cyclone Arnab, which has since moved into Andhra Pradesh and further north.
Dr. V.R. Durai, director of the regional meteorological center in Chennai, indicated that current weather models suggest a trajectory toward northern Tamil Nadu. He emphasized that the system’s final path has yet to be determined.
“It is difficult to predict the direction and development of the system until it transforms into a cyclone,” Dr. Durai stated. “However, models currently indicate a potential movement toward northern Tamil Nadu.”
The amount of rainfall in different parts of the state will depend on the system’s path after it strengthens. If it turns toward the Cauvery Delta, Tamil Nadu could see significant rainfall. Conversely, if it heads toward the coasts of Chennai and nearby Andhra Pradesh, the city could experience heavy rain.
Thus, the expected rainfall on November 1 and 2 will largely depend on how this system develops and where it travels. Current indications provide only an early estimate of potential weather activity.
Dr. Durai added that clearer predictions will emerge once the system intensifies and its path becomes more defined.
