New Era of Development in Rajasthan with Yamuna Water Agreement: CM Bhajanlal Sharma

Jaipur, July 1: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has hailed the long-awaited Yamuna water project agreement between Rajasthan and Haryana as a ‘golden chapter’ in the history of water management.

CM Sharma emphasized that this agreement is more than just a water-sharing arrangement. It lays a strong foundation for a bright future, water security, and prosperity for millions of residents in Rajasthan.

Speaking at a press conference at Jodhpur House in New Delhi, the Chief Minister noted that the completion of this nearly three-decade-old project reflects the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the effective guidance of Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah, and the excellent coordination between the central and state governments.

He stated that the ‘double-engine government’ has once again proven that when public welfare is the top priority, collective resolve and political will can address long-standing challenges.

The Chief Minister highlighted that water security is a crucial pillar of Prime Minister Modi’s vision for a ‘Developed India 2047’. Inspired by this vision, the Rajasthan government is diligently working to ensure adequate and safe drinking water for every citizen.

He stressed that water is not only the basis of life but also the most vital resource for agriculture, industry, investment, job creation, environmental protection, and overall social development.

Discussing the significance of this project, the Chief Minister mentioned that this initiative, worth ₹34,102 crores, will provide a sustainable solution to the state’s water-related challenges, especially in water-scarce regions like Shekhawati.

This project will ensure safe drinking water for millions of families, reduce dependence on groundwater, strengthen water conservation efforts, and accelerate the socio-economic development of the region.

It will serve as a milestone in creating a developed Rajasthan by promoting investment, employment, agriculture, tourism, and infrastructure development.

He further noted that improved water availability will create a favorable environment for industrial growth, attract new investments, boost agriculture and livestock, generate employment opportunities, and significantly enhance the quality of life in both rural and urban areas.

This project will also strengthen Rajasthan’s long-term water management strategy and ensure sustainable water security for future generations.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for this historic achievement, the Chief Minister stated that under his leadership, the spirit of cooperative federalism has been strengthened.

He also thanked Union Home Minister Amit Shah, acknowledging that his continuous guidance, proactive initiatives, and efforts to facilitate constructive dialogue between Rajasthan and Haryana have led to this agreement on a complex issue.

The Chief Minister praised the technical guidance and administrative support provided by Union Minister for Water Power C.R. Patil. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to completing the project on time and with high quality, ensuring that every phase is closely monitored to deliver benefits to the people of Rajasthan as soon as possible.

He described this project not merely as an infrastructure initiative but as a historic investment in the future of Rajasthan.

In the coming years, the water from the Yamuna will usher in a new era of development, prosperity, and happiness, transforming the lives of millions and laying a strong foundation for a developed, self-reliant, and water-secure Rajasthan.
