Mumbai, April 14: DJI appears to be testing a new compact drone, as evidenced by a recently circulated video clip. The footage reveals a small drone equipped with built-in propeller guards, indicating it may be designed for beginners or for FPV-style flying.
Recently, DJI launched the Avata 360, which offers 360-degree capture capabilities for FPV enthusiasts. The ongoing rollout of this model suggests that DJI is simultaneously developing multiple products.
The drone seen in the video seems to fall between the Avata 2 and the Neo in terms of design. It features a compact body, enclosed propellers, and what appears to be a single camera setup. While this design is not particularly surprising, the guarded structure stands out, especially for indoor or close-range operations.
As for its identity, that remains uncertain. Some speculate it could be an early version of the Avata 3, given its resemblance to DJI’s FPV lineup. Others suggest it might be a Neo 3, which would align with DJI’s strategy of updating its entry-level models. Currently, it’s mostly speculation.
The video lacks detailed visuals, which is common for early testing leaks. Nonetheless, it confirms that DJI is working on something new, albeit still in the early development phase.
Historically, DJI does not rush to launch new products. The company typically conducts public tests for an extended period before making any official announcements.
For now, this brief glimpse hints at what could be on the horizon: either a successor to the Avata series or an updated Neo model, focusing on safety and user-friendliness.
