Beijing, August 14: The Chinese Vice Minister of Ecology and Environment, Shu Peichao, announced on August 13 that a new action plan is underway to enhance air quality in China.
He stated that since the 18th CPC Congress, China has implemented three consecutive action plans aimed at air quality improvement, resulting in significant progress.
According to data, the national average density of PM 2.5 in China dropped to 28 micrograms per cubic meter in 2025, a 59% decrease compared to 2013. The proportion of heavily polluted days has also fallen to 0.9%, marking the best record since monitoring began.
Shu Peichao highlighted that challenges in addressing air pollution remain insufficient, unstable, and unbalanced. The transition from clear improvements in air quality to comprehensive enhancements is crucial. The new action plan will set higher standards, target specific regions more effectively, and implement more scientific measures.
