Nepals Voters Hope for Change as National Independent Party Leads Early Trends

Kathmandu, March 6: Early trends from the vote counting in Nepal indicate a strong hope for political change. The National Independent Party (RSP) is currently leading in 96 seats. Prime Ministerial candidate Balen Shah is significantly ahead of KP Sharma Oli.

The promising performance of this new political party has sparked a wave of hope among citizens troubled by corruption.

According to Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, joint secretary and spokesperson for the Election Commission of Nepal, the Nepali Congress is in second place, followed by the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) in third, and the Communist Party of Nepal in fourth.

Voters are closely monitoring the counting process, hoping for results that will bring meaningful reforms to the country.

Dr. Anupama, a voter returning from Canada, expressed optimism about the emergence of a new party. She stated, “We hope for change in Nepal this time as a new party is gaining ground. We returned from Canada and even renounced our Canadian citizenship. We are looking forward to a transformed Nepal, free from corruption.”

Another voter, Dr. Prahlad Upreti, emphasized the importance of this election following youth protests earlier this year. He remarked, “This is a crucial election after the Gen Z protests. People are hopeful for change, and if new parties win, we want that change to be institutionalized.”

Experts suggest that the emerging trends reflect growing disillusionment with traditional political parties and a desire for greater accountability and reform among voters, especially the younger generation.

Currently, the counting is ongoing at the cooperative training center in New Baneshwor. Final results will be announced once the counting in all constituencies is complete.

As per the latest updates, Balen Shah is leading by over four thousand votes.
