New Delhi, August 15: Neighboring countries Nepal and Bangladesh have extended their congratulations to India on its 80th Independence Day. The Prime Minister’s Office of Nepal emphasized strengthening ties, while Bangladesh honored the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence.
Nepal’s PMO conveyed heartfelt wishes from Prime Minister Balendra Shah, stating, “On the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, I sincerely congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people and government of India.”
He expressed hope that the deep historical relationship between Nepal and India, along with the close ties between their peoples, would continue to strengthen in the years to come.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh High Commission in India shared its sentiments through a multilingual Independence Day message, focusing on themes of “friendship, harmony, and prosperity.”
The message read, “Bangladesh congratulates all men, women, and children of India on the 80th Independence Day. We sincerely remember those brave individuals who gave their lives during the long struggle for freedom.”
This exchange comes amid signs of renewed diplomatic efforts between India and Bangladesh.
In celebration of India’s 80th Independence Day, the Indian High Commission in Dhaka emphasized the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign and called for the continuation of the historic “Surya Path Tiranga” journey from the Indian Embassy in Bhutan.
The Indian Embassy in Thimphu shared a video of the flag hoisting on the morning of August 15, stating on social media, “Let’s continue this journey of Surya Path Tiranga. It is now the responsibility of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to carry the Indian flag and inspire Indians for the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign.”
This year’s Independence Day celebrations particularly highlight the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram,” showcasing the energy, hopes, and contributions of India’s youth towards building a developed India by 2047.
