NCP Leader Umesh Patil Addresses Meeting with Amit Shah, Dismisses Rumors of Party Discord
NCP spokesperson Umesh Patil clarifies the recent meeting with Amit Shah, asserting party unity and addressing ongoing discussions.

Mumbai, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Umesh Patil, the national spokesperson for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), spoke out regarding a recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He emphasized that the meeting was planned in advance, and the party’s national president was fully aware of it. Patil expressed frustration over media speculation and urged reporters to verify information with official party representatives before publishing.
He confirmed that the images from the meeting were taken today, noting that the last time the late party leader Ajit Pawar met with Shah, it was communicated that several party leaders wished to engage with him. This meeting was a continuation of those discussions, not an impromptu gathering.
When asked about the agenda, Patil explained that the delegation discussed various departments under the party’s purview and related issues concerning the central government. The current situation in Maharashtra was also a topic of conversation. Given the NCP’s strong ties to farmers and its oversight of related departments, discussions on agricultural matters were to be expected. He recalled that when the NCP joined the NDA under Ajit Pawar’s leadership, certain issues were agreed upon, some of which remain unresolved and were also likely discussed in this meeting.
On the topic of the finance department, Patil stated that conversations had already taken place. The Chief Minister has indicated that the finance department will soon be transferred to the NCP. He dismissed any doubts about this transition and expressed confidence that clarity on the matter would emerge shortly.
Patil urged the media to confirm any news with official party leaders or spokespeople before reporting. He noted that it is reasonable to report on information shared by party leaders, but relying solely on anonymous sources raises questions. He advised that any information from informal sources should be verified with authorized representatives before publication.
Addressing rumors of discontent within the party, Patil asserted that everything is in order within the NCP, with all leaders working cohesively. He acknowledged that some individuals, following the party’s division, may not wish to see the NCP progress and continue to spread misinformation based on outdated issues.
Regarding the recent rally organized by the INDIA alliance, Patil stated that every party has the right to express its views under the Constitution. He pointed out the contradiction in opposition claims that the Constitution is being undermined while large rallies are still permitted in Delhi. The government is allowing such gatherings and is open to criticism, indicating a willingness to engage in dialogue.
