Naxalite Commander Arrested in Jharkhand with Two Associates

Latehar, February 11: In a significant operation, police in Latehar district of Jharkhand have arrested a Naxalite commander, Aadesh Ganjhu, who was carrying a bounty of ₹50,000. He was apprehended along with two associates, Ujjwal Kumar and Subhash Kumar. The police seized illegal firearms, cartridges, and documents related to extremist activities from their possession.

Police Superintendent Kumar Gaurav received a tip-off that Ganjhu was hiding in the Pakrua forest of Banwar village, along with four to five accomplices, planning a major criminal act. Given the seriousness of the information, a special raid team was promptly formed under the SP’s directives.

The team cordoned off the area and conducted a well-planned search operation in the forest. During this operation, the three suspects were arrested, while other militants managed to escape using the cover of darkness and the dense forest.

In a press conference on Wednesday, the Superintendent revealed that Aadesh Ganjhu had been active with the banned outfit TSPC for a long time. He faces a total of 21 cases across Latehar and Chatra districts, including extortion, firing, arson, and other militant activities. Ganjhu was known to use aliases such as Prabhakar, Kaushal, Upendra, and Vikram to extort money from traders and contractors.

Ganjhu has been active in areas including Balumath, Tandwa, Simaria, Lawaloung, Keradari, Khalari, and McCluskiganj. Meanwhile, Subhash Kumar has one case registered against him in Chatra district. The police are interrogating the arrested individuals to gather information about other members of the organization and their future plans.
