
New Delhi, April 1: The National Women’s Commission has expressed deep concern over a heinous crime reported in Hazaribagh district, Jharkhand, involving a 12-year-old girl. The Commission described the incident as inhumane and a serious warning for society, raising questions about the safety of women and girls.
According to reports, the girl’s body was discovered under suspicious circumstances on March 25, 2026, showing signs of extreme brutality. This shocking event has created an atmosphere of outrage and fear in the region. In light of the sensitivity and seriousness of the case, the National Women’s Commission has ordered a high-level investigation.
Commission Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar has formed a three-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation. This committee will visit the crime scene on April 2 to gather evidence and discuss the actions taken so far with relevant administrative and police officials. The committee includes former Commission member Mamta Kumari, legal officer Manmohan Verma, and senior coordinator Kanchan Khattar.
Vijaya Rahatkar has issued strict instructions to the state government and police administration to ensure a swift, fair, and effective investigation, allowing for stringent legal action against the perpetrators. She emphasized the need for concrete and effective preventive measures to avert such incidents in the future.
She stated, “Such heinous crimes are unacceptable in any civilized society. Ensuring swift justice for the victim is our top priority, and the guilty must not be spared at any cost.”
The investigation committee has been directed to submit its report to the Commission within ten working days, based on which further action will be taken. The National Women’s Commission has also assured that it will continuously monitor the case and take all possible steps to ensure the safety, dignity, and justice for women.
