Srinagar, October 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Irani Cup 2026 between Rest of India and Jammu and Kashmir saw an exhilarating second day at the Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar on October 2. By the end of the day’s play, Rest of India had scored 24 runs for the loss of one wicket in their second innings.

Jammu and Kashmir, responding to Rest of India’s first innings total of 237, managed to post 278 runs before being bowled out. Captain Parvez Dogra led the charge with a solid performance, scoring 75 runs off 143 balls, including six fours and a six. Abdul Samad also made a notable contribution with 57 runs from 88 deliveries.

However, it was Nasir Mujafar, batting at number ten, who played a pivotal role. He scored 64 runs off 64 balls, maintaining a strike rate of 100, with eight fours and three sixes. His partnership with Sunil Kumar was crucial, as they added 48 runs for the tenth wicket in just 28 balls. Earlier, Mujafar and Dogra had combined for an important 64-run partnership for the ninth wicket.

Kamran Iqbal chipped in with 24 runs from 35 balls. Unfortunately, Shubham Pundir (1 run), Umar Nazir Mir (4 runs), and Shubham Khajuria (4 runs) failed to make significant impacts with the bat. On the bowling front, Mukesh Chaudhary shone for Rest of India, taking five wickets for 78 runs, while Akashdeep and Mukesh Kumar claimed three and two wickets, respectively. Jammu and Kashmir gained a 41-run lead based on their first innings.

In their second innings, Rest of India’s start was rocky. Shikhar Mohan fell for just 2 runs after facing 27 balls, dismissed by Sunil Kumar. However, Sanat Sangwan (unbeaten on 10 runs) and Sudip Kumar Gharami (also unbeaten on 10 runs) steadied the innings, ensuring no further wickets fell. Rest of India still trails by 17 runs, needing to catch up with Jammu and Kashmir’s lead.
