Naomi Ackie Praises Director James Watkins for Collaborative Spirit in Cleeface
Naomi Ackie commends director James Watkins for his collaborative approach while working on the film Cleeface, set to release on October 23.

Mumbai, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Naomi Ackie has expressed high praise for James Watkins, the director of her upcoming film “Cleeface.” She highlighted his collaborative working style, noting that he welcomes input from both the cast and crew, allowing everyone to contribute freely on set.
Ackie emphasized the importance of establishing the right tone for a film. She explained that understanding the mood of each scene and fostering good rapport among the cast and crew is crucial. “James excels in this area,” she said. “He has a keen sense of where a scene should feel light, where it should evoke darkness and fear, and where the story needs to maintain a serious tone.”
According to Ackie, each scene must provide enough substance for audiences to connect with the characters and their narratives. As filming progresses, the synergy among the actors improves, making it easier to grasp the film’s tone.
“There comes a point when you don’t need to overthink these aspects because the actors naturally begin to connect with the story and their characters,” she added.
Ackie also lauded Watkins for his directing and leadership skills. She noted that he is always open to suggestions from the cast and knows how to maintain a light-hearted atmosphere on set. “During filming, it’s important to remind everyone that they are just making a movie. A director’s calm and composed nature can greatly assist the actors,” she explained.
She concluded by emphasizing the necessity of feeling comfortable with the people involved, especially with the director whose instructions the actors follow. A strong rapport with the director allows performers to work with greater confidence.
“Cleeface,” produced under the Warner Bros. Pictures banner, is set to hit Indian theaters on October 23, and will be released in both English and Hindi.
