Nammo Bharat Rapid Rail System Celebrates Three Successful Years with Over 45 Million Passengers

The Nammo Bharat rapid rail system marks three years of operation, serving over 45 million passengers since its launch in October 2023.

New Delhi, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : The Nammo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in October 2023, has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 45 million passenger journeys. This announcement was made by Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, during the ‘Nammo Bharat Day 2026‘ celebration in New Delhi.

Khattar highlighted that the system, which operates along the 82-kilometer Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor, reflects the growing trust of the public in modern, safe, and seamless transportation. Currently, more than 110,000 passengers utilize the Nammo Bharat service daily, with a record high of about 168,000 passengers in a single day.

He emphasized that the Nammo Bharat Rapid Rail is heralding a new era of regional connectivity in India and is reshaping the future of urban transport. By improving transportation systems, it not only reduces distances between cities but also connects people to new opportunities, thereby fostering regional development and economic growth.

Khattar praised the contributions of the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) officials, engineers, technical experts, staff, and workers who played a pivotal role in realizing this ambitious project.

The Nammo Bharat service is making travel more convenient through its fast, regular, and reliable operations. It has simplified access to workplaces, educational institutions, and economic centers, saving passengers valuable time.

Plans for additional corridors, including the Delhi-Panipat-Karnal and Delhi-Gurugram-Behror routes, are expected to receive approval soon. Meanwhile, the Ghaziabad-Jewar and Noida-Faridabad-Gurugram corridors are in the detailed project report phase.

During the event, NCRTC shared key achievements from the three-year journey of Nammo Bharat, highlighting initiatives aimed at enhancing multimodal connectivity, improving first and last-mile access, and making the project more environmentally and financially sustainable with efforts like ‘Solar on Track’ and a 110-megawatt captive solar power plant.

NCRTC Managing Director Shalabh Goyal noted that the establishment of NCRTC aimed to develop a modern, safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly regional transport system. The journey of Nammo Bharat exemplifies how modern public transport can bring people closer to opportunities and contribute to a more connected, accessible, and sustainable region.

The ceremony also featured the annual NCRTC awards, recognizing employees for their outstanding performance over the year.
