Mysterious Death of Elderly Woman Discovered in Well in Kerala

Pathanamthitta, April 20: A tragic and mysterious incident has emerged from the Punalur area of Pathanamthitta district in Kerala, where the body of a 70-year-old housewife was found in a well.

The deceased has been identified as Sarla, the wife of the late Thankappan from Anupama Bhavan in Karavalloor, Tiruvazhimmukku. This incident has caused shock and concern in the local community.

According to reports, Sarla had recently visited her younger daughter Monisha’s home in Karavalloor to collect a gas cylinder and clean the house. She had previously been staying with her elder daughter. After her family reported her missing, they began a search and informed the Punalur police station and the fire brigade.

Upon receiving the information, local residents and the fire brigade team launched a joint search operation. After considerable effort, Sarla’s body was recovered from a dry, unused well located near her home, adjacent to a field.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Sarla may have slipped and fallen into the well, leading to her death. However, police have clarified that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated, and no possibilities are being overlooked.

The Punalur police have registered a case and initiated an inquiry. Sarla’s family includes her two daughters, Smita and Monisha, along with sons-in-law Viju and Sajit. The family is in deep mourning following this tragic event.

Authorities have stated that after the post-mortem process is completed, the body will be handed over to the family for the final rites, which will take place at their home in Karavalloor.
