
New Delhi, August 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed gratitude to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Isaac Herzog for their Independence Day wishes.
In a post on the social media platform X, Modi wrote, “Thank you, Prime Minister Netanyahu, for your wishes. May our special strategic partnership with Israel strengthen, opening new opportunities and deepening the bonds between our peoples.”
Modi also thanked President Herzog for his greetings, stating, “Thank you, President Herzog. India values its friendship with Israel greatly. We are committed to enhancing our strategic partnership for the benefit of our people.”
On Saturday, Netanyahu shared a message on X congratulating Modi on India’s 80th Independence Day. He noted that both India and Israel gained independence just a year apart, emphasizing the ancient ties between the two nations as they work together for a better future. “There are no limits to our innovation and friendship. The best is yet to come!” he stated.
President Herzog also took to social media to extend his congratulations, saying, “On behalf of Israel, I warmly congratulate President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the wonderful people of India on your 80th Independence Day! Let us continue to strengthen the beautiful friendship between Israel and India.”
The atmosphere across the country was festive as India celebrated Independence Day on Saturday. Prime Minister Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort and addressed the nation for 75 minutes. He remarked that this is a historic moment for all, as “Vande Mataram” was sung at the Red Fort for the first time in 80 years. Modi reiterated the commitment to building a “developed India” by 2047, reflecting the collective voice of over 1.4 billion citizens.
