During the event, the Prime Minister described Pongal as a global festival that is enthusiastically celebrated by the Tamil community and admirers of Tamil culture worldwide. “It is a privilege for me to celebrate this special occasion with all of you,” he said.

Modi highlighted that Pongal is a joyful occasion in Tamil culture, expressing gratitude towards farmers, the earth, and the sun. The festival also teaches the significance of maintaining a balanced relationship between nature, family, and society.
