Modi Highlights Reform, Performance and Transformation as Key to Government’s Identity

New Delhi: The Budget Session of Parliament began on Thursday, marking an important phase for legislative proceedings. On the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed journalists at the Parliament premises, outlining the government’s guiding principles as ‘Reform, Perform and Transform’.

The Prime Minister emphasized the significance of the expectations set by President Droupadi Murmu at the start of the year before both houses of Parliament. He expressed confidence that all members of Parliament have taken these expectations seriously and will contribute responsibly during the session. Speaking about President Murmu’s remarks on Wednesday, Modi noted they provided valuable direction for the lawmakers.

Highlighting India’s growing global stature, Modi stated that a confident India today serves as a beacon of hope and an attractive destination internationally. He pointed to the recently concluded India-European Union Free Trade Agreement as a sign of promising opportunities ahead, especially for India’s youth. Modi urged producers and manufacturers to take full advantage of this expanded market and to actively compete by offering high-quality products at competitive prices.

He further stressed the importance of focusing on quality as India opens its markets, noting that the agreement involving 27 countries will generate significant opportunities for fishermen, farmers, youth, and those interested in the services sector.

On the government’s approach, Modi reiterated that while attention naturally turns to the budget, the true identity of his administration lies in its commitment to reform, performance, and transformation. He expressed gratitude towards all parliamentarians for their positive contributions in accelerating the ‘Reform Express’, which is gaining momentum.

Modi declared that the present time is not for obstacles but for solutions. He underscored that the priority must be to find and implement effective solutions rather than dwelling on disruptions. Despite criticism, the government has consistently focused on last-mile delivery, ensuring that schemes reach people’s lives rather than remaining on paper. This tradition will continue as the ‘Reform Express’ advances into the next generation of reforms.
