Modi Discusses Middle East Crisis with UAE President, Extends Eid Wishes

New Delhi, March 18: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in a conversation with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, extending his early Eid greetings.

During their discussion, both leaders addressed the current situation in the Middle East and expressed concerns over rising tensions in the region.

India condemned the recent attacks on the UAE and emphasized the importance of protecting innocent civilians. They also highlighted the necessity of secure and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

In a post on the social media platform X, Prime Minister Modi stated, “I spoke with my brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and conveyed my early Eid wishes. We discussed the current state of the Middle East. We condemned the attacks on the UAE that resulted in the loss of innocent lives and damage to civilian infrastructure. We agreed on the importance of ensuring safe and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. We will continue to work together for the swift restoration of peace, security, and stability in the region.”

It is noteworthy that a recent drone attack targeted a petroleum facility in Fujairah, UAE. Firefighters struggled to control the blaze, which was eventually subdued on Monday. According to Fujairah media, the region has been targeted three times in recent days.

Officials reported that the fire occurred in the oil industry zone, but there were no injuries reported. Local civil defense teams responded promptly and managed to bring the fire under control.

The Fujairah oil industry zone serves as a strategic hub for refueling ships and is a crucial terminal for UAE’s crude oil exports. Located outside the Strait of Hormuz, it plays a vital role in global oil supply.

The UAE and other Gulf nations are facing missile and drone attacks linked to regional tensions stemming from ongoing military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran.
