G7 Condemns Irans Attacks on Gulf Nations, Warns of Global Security Threats

Washington, March 22: The G7 nations have strongly condemned Iran’s attacks on civilians and critical infrastructure in several Middle Eastern countries. They expressed solidarity with all nations in West Asia that are victims of these assaults. The G7 group labeled Iran’s actions as unjustified.

In a joint statement, G7 foreign ministers, along with the European Union’s High Representative, demonstrated unity with the affected countries amid rising tensions. The countries condemning Iran’s attacks include Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The statement emphasized that the G7 supports its partners in the region against Iran and its proxies’ wrongful actions. It stated, “We condemn in the strongest terms the reckless attacks on civilians and essential infrastructure, including energy infrastructure, in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, and Iraq, in accordance with UNSC Resolution 2817.”

The G7 warned that Iran’s actions pose a significant threat not only to the targeted nations but also to regional and global security. They called on Tehran to cease its military activities immediately.

The statement read, “These actions threaten regional and global security,” urging for an “immediate and unconditional halt” to all such attacks.

The group also stressed the importance of ensuring security along vital maritime routes and global supply chains, particularly in the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz.

The statement reaffirmed, “We reiterate the importance of securing maritime routes and navigation, including the Strait of Hormuz and all associated waterways, as well as the stability of energy markets and supply chains. We are prepared to take necessary steps to support the global energy supply, such as the decision made by IEA member countries to release stocks on March 11.”

Reiterating previous concerns, the G7 asserted that Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons. They also called for an end to Iran’s ballistic missile program, destabilizing activities in the region and beyond, and the horrific violence and repression against its own people.

Furthermore, the G7 emphasized the right of affected nations to defend themselves against such attacks. The statement concluded, “We support the rights of countries wrongfully attacked by Iran or Iranian proxies to defend their territories and protect their citizens. We reaffirm our steadfast support for their security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.”

The group condemned recent attacks in Iraq, particularly those targeting diplomatic facilities and energy infrastructure.

The statement noted, “We denounce the open attacks by Iran and its militias on diplomatic facilities and energy infrastructure in Iraq, especially in the Iraqi Kurdistan region, and against U.S. and counter-ISIS coalition forces and the Iraqi people.”
