Chennai, August 27: Moderate rainfall is expected in seven districts of Tamil Nadu on Thursday. The India Meteorological Department has also warned that temperatures may rise in the northern interior regions of the state over the next few days.
According to the latest weather bulletin, a weak low-pressure area persists in the lower atmosphere over Tamil Nadu’s coastal regions. As a result, moderate rain is likely in parts of Chengalpattu, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Kallakurichi, Tiruchi, Ariyalur, and Perambalur districts during the day. Moderate rain may also occur in some areas of the delta districts.
The forecast indicates that rainfall will not be uniform across the region, with varying weather conditions expected in nearby areas. The department stated that from Friday until August 30, moderate rain is possible in one or two locations near the Western Ghats. During this period, rainfall activity in other parts of Tamil Nadu is expected to be minimal.
While some areas of the state prepare for rain, the northern interior districts may experience warmer weather. Between Thursday and August 30, maximum temperatures in these areas could rise by up to 3 degrees Celsius. This increase may lead to discomfort, especially during the afternoon. Residents are advised to be prepared for varying weather conditions.
Isolated showers may provide temporary relief from the heat; however, a significant drop in temperatures across the state is unlikely. In Chennai, partly cloudy skies are anticipated during the day, with light rain possible in the evening or night in some areas around the city. However, rainfall is not expected to be consistent throughout the metropolitan area.
The capital city is likely to remain warm, and cloud cover may increase the chances of brief rainfall in the evening.
The meteorological department will continue to monitor the weak atmospheric system near the Tamil Nadu coast and will issue updates if there are any significant changes in its strength or movement.
