Bhopal, June 18: Minister Vishwas Sarang of the Madhya Pradesh government has responded to the notices issued by the state Congress Committee to 22 NSUI district presidents for their absence from a protest. He stated that targeting such minor officials is futile. If notices are to be issued, they should be directed at Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge instead. Sarang emphasized that Congress is pressuring its grassroots workers rather than holding its leaders accountable. He believes this situation reflects the organizational weakness within the Congress party.
Commenting on the cancellation of Congress candidate Meenakshi Natarajan’s nomination and the controversy surrounding it, Sarang noted that the Congress party had already anticipated significant cross-voting. He accused Congress legislators of completely defying party leadership, which has led the party to scramble to salvage its reputation. Sarang claimed that if Congress leadership had taken the matter seriously, the nomination process could have been executed correctly.
Sarang pointed out that Congress has approached the court but failed to take necessary precautions at its own level. He sarcastically remarked that if senior Congress leaders had properly reviewed the forms and processes, this controversy could have been avoided. He suggested that if they had utilized the same lawyers they brought to court for filling out the forms, the situation would have been different. According to him, Congress is now resorting to unnecessary political rhetoric to cover up its failures.
He highlighted a severe lack of organizational discipline within Congress, claiming that decision-making has become completely unbalanced. Sarang accused the party of awarding positions based more on personal relationships and loyalty than on merit.
Sarang confirmed that notices have indeed been issued to 22 NSUI district presidents. If Congress truly intended to take action, it should have targeted its top leadership and senior officials.
Attacking Congress leadership, he stated that if notices are to be issued, they should first be directed at Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders, as they set the party’s direction and policies. He also called for scrutiny of the roles played by the Madhya Pradesh Congress president and other senior leaders.
In advising Congress, Sarang suggested that the party needs to engage in self-reflection. He urged Congress to understand why the public is not connecting with their protests and what deficiencies exist in their policies. He accused Congress of being caught up in political theatrics while straying from real issues.
Additionally, he shared his views on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), stating that uniform laws across the country are a necessity. He asserted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the government is continually taking reformative steps, with the UCC being a significant initiative in that direction. He mentioned that several states have already begun working on this, and the Madhya Pradesh government is also committed to its implementation.
