Tehran, March 16: The ongoing military conflict is severely impacting Iran’s large population. The capital, Tehran, has suffered significant damage. According to the Iranian state news agency Tasnim, approximately 12,000 residential homes have been partially or completely damaged due to attacks from the United States and Israel. This information was provided by Tehran’s Governor, Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian.
The Governor noted that many residential buildings in the capital and surrounding areas have been affected since the start of the war. He stated that the municipal corporation will be responsible for handling compensation claims within the city.
Previously, he mentioned that over 10,000 non-military residential units had already been damaged within the first 15 days of the conflict. The attacks have not only targeted homes but also commercial centers, production facilities, educational institutions, and healthcare services.
Media reports indicate that the conflict, which began at the end of February 2026, has led to extensive damage to infrastructure and civilian areas in several Iranian cities due to attacks by the U.S. and Israel. The number of civilian casualties continues to rise.
