Massive Turnout Expected at India Block Rally, Claims Congress Leader Atul Londhe Patil

Atul Londhe Patil predicts 1.5 million attendees at the India Block rally, citing threats to democracy and constitutional integrity.

Nagpur, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : In Nagpur, Congress leader Atul Londhe Patil made a bold prediction regarding the upcoming India Block rally scheduled for November 1. He asserted that there is no need for a formal appeal to gather crowds, as the current state of democracy and the Constitution is under threat. “People are ready to come on their own,” he stated.

Patil estimated that while some may suggest a turnout of 500,000, the reality could be far greater. “There won’t even be space to stand. We expect over 1.5 million people from across the country to gather,” he claimed.

He also addressed the recent stampede at the Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata, emphasizing the need for an investigation. “The circumstances surrounding the stampede must be examined. Was permission obtained for the gathering? Did the administration take necessary precautions? What plans were in place for entry and exit?” he questioned, stressing the importance of crowd management.

Further commenting on the tragedy, which resulted in 19 fatalities, Patil criticized the local government for not adequately preparing for such a large event. “As the Chief Minister, you made grand statements, but how could you overlook the scale of this festival in Kolkata?” he asked.

In light of another recent incident in Gwalior, where a truck carrying rice ran over devotees near the Sheetla Mata temple, Patil called for a thorough investigation. “We need to understand the circumstances that led to this accident. Was the driver under the influence? What happened? He must face strict punishment,” he insisted.
