Maruti Suzuki India Achieves Record Vehicle Sales in April with 33% Growth

New Delhi, May 1: Maruti Suzuki India, the country’s largest car manufacturer, announced on Friday that it recorded its highest-ever sales in April. This marks a strong start to the new fiscal year, driven by robust demand across all segments, particularly for small cars and SUVs.

The company sold a total of 239,646 vehicles in April, reflecting a 33.29% increase compared to 179,791 units sold in the same month last year.

Domestic sales also reached a record high, totaling 191,122 units, up from 142,053 units a year earlier. This surpassed the previous record of 182,165 units set in December 2025.

The most significant growth was observed in the entry-level segment. Sales in the mini car category, which includes models like Alto and S-Presso, surged to 16,066 units, compared to just 6,332 units in April of the previous year.

The compact segment, featuring popular models such as Baleno, Swift, Dzire, and WagonR, also performed well. Sales in this segment rose to 80,659 units, up from 61,912 units last year.

Demand for the company’s utility vehicles (SUVs) remained strong, with models like Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, and Grand Vitara achieving sales of 77,892 units, compared to 59,022 units in the previous year.

Meanwhile, sales of the light commercial vehicle ‘Super Carry’ remained stable at 3,418 units, slightly up from 3,349 units in April last year.

Exports also contributed significantly to the overall growth, with April exports increasing to 40,054 units, compared to 27,911 units a year prior.

Earlier this month, the company announced that it achieved its highest annual production of 2.34 million units in the fiscal year 2025-26.

With this achievement, Maruti Suzuki India has become the first automotive company in the country to record such a high production volume in passenger vehicles.

The company also stated its goal to increase production to approximately 4 million units per year.
