Mumbai, March 25: The vibrant celebration of Chaitra Navratri is underway across the country. Devotees are performing rituals at various temples dedicated to the nine forms of the goddess.

Amidst this festive spirit, actress and model Mannara Chopra shared stunning photos and videos from the renowned Chamundeshwari Temple located in Mysuru, Karnataka.

On Wednesday, she posted beautiful images of herself in a yellow saree on her Instagram account, wishing her fans a joyous Chaitra Navratri through her captions. Are you familiar with the significance of the Chamundeshwari Temple? If not, let us enlighten you.

The Chamundeshwari Temple, perched over 3,300 feet atop the Chamundi Hills in Mysuru, is a famous Hindu shrine dedicated to Goddess Durga. It is considered one of the Shakti Peethas, believed to be the site where a part of Goddess Sati’s hair fell.

This temple is dedicated to Chamunda, the goddess of power, war, and victory. It is said that the Hoysala dynasty kings constructed the temple in the 12th century. Besides its religious significance, the temple is renowned for its breathtaking views. From its hilltop, visitors can enjoy a panoramic vista of the entire Mysuru city.

Legend has it that Goddess Durga vanquished the demon Mahishasura at this hilltop. Inside the sanctum, there is an eight-armed idol of Goddess Chamundeshwari. During Navratri, devotees worship the goddess in her nine different forms for nine consecutive days, attracting a large number of pilgrims and tourists from across the nation and beyond.
