Chief Minister Mohan Yadav Highlights Livestock and Fisheries as Key to Boosting Farmers Income

Neemuch, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Mohan Yadav of Madhya Pradesh has underscored the significance of integrating livestock and fisheries with agriculture to enhance farmers’ income. His remarks came during the district-level Balram Agriculture Festival held at the Agricultural Produce Market in Changeria, Neemuch.

Participating via video conference from Khandwa, Yadav stressed the need to promote dairy production and aquaculture alongside traditional farming. He called for effective implementation of schemes aimed at empowering families involved in fish production, particularly around the Gandhi Sagar reservoir.

The Chief Minister engaged with farmers about agricultural activities, the benefits of government schemes, innovations in the farming sector, and their specific needs. He noted that Neemuch district has carved out a unique identity in advanced agriculture, modern farming, and agribusiness within the state. The district is known for producing various medicinal crops, including Ashwagandha, Isabgol, Tulsi, Satavari, Chirata, Amla, Baheda, and Neem. Neemuch also plays a crucial role in the production and trade of agricultural products such as chia seeds, garlic, fenugreek, and coriander.

Yadav revealed that over 10,000 acres in the district are dedicated to natural and organic farming. This approach not only maintains soil fertility but also promotes the production of high-quality and safe agricultural products. He urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural techniques, diversify crops, and explore supplementary income-generating activities.

Additionally, he mentioned the potential for tourism in Neemuch due to the upcoming cheetah project at the Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary. This development is expected to create new employment and self-employment opportunities in the region, giving Neemuch a fresh identity in the tourism sector.
