Security forces in Rajouri recover nine grenades and weapons during a significant operation aimed at counter-terrorism efforts.

Rajouri, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : Security forces achieved a significant breakthrough in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, on October 19, 2026. During a joint operation, the army and Jammu and Kashmir police uncovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition. The operation targeted a hidden site within a cave located in the Panch Gabbar area of the Kotranaka tehsil.

Authorities reported that the operation yielded nine Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) grenades, an AK-47 magazine, and 18 live cartridges. These items were concealed in a cave under the jurisdiction of the Kandi police station. Following the discovery, a search operation was launched in the area to ascertain the terrorist group associated with the cache.

Security officials stated that this operation is part of ongoing efforts to locate hidden weapons and ammunition in Rajouri district, aimed at bolstering local security measures. Just days prior, on October 13, another joint operation in Poonch district resulted in the seizure of a significant arms and ammunition stockpile, including an AK-47 rifle, grenades, and various supplies.

In recent months, counter-terrorism operations have intensified in Rajouri and Poonch districts. Security forces are actively dismantling terrorist hideouts, thwarting infiltration attempts, and monitoring the activities of foreign terrorist networks. Under Operation Sheruwali, extensive searches and cordons have been conducted in the dense forests of Rajouri and Poonch, with additional joint operations continuing into September and October.

According to security agencies, operations are ongoing in the forests of Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kishtwar, Reasi, Kathua, Ramban, and Udhampur due to reports of terrorist presence in these regions.
