Major Revelations in Rohit Shetty Shooting Case: Shooter Funded via Hawala Network

Mumbai, April 5: Significant developments have emerged in the February shooting incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s home in Juhu. The Mumbai Crime Branch has revealed that Golu Pandit, the individual responsible for recruiting shooters, received substantial funds through a hawala network. The Bishnoi gang facilitated these transactions from Nepal, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh.

During interrogation, Pradeep Sharma, an arrested associate of Golu Pandit, provided crucial information. According to the Crime Branch, Golu was funded via hawala to recruit shooters for the operation. The money was transferred through various hawala channels by Arzu Bishnoi, an active operator of the Bishnoi gang. Golu was reportedly instructed to remain silent during questioning and avoid disclosing any information.

A senior officer from the Crime Branch stated that initial investigations indicated Golu was compensated for recruiting shooters, with funds not sent through traditional banking systems but rather via hawala. Such transactions complicate tracking efforts for agencies, which is why the exact amount provided by the Bishnoi gang remains undisclosed. Golu Pandit was a key player in this conspiracy; he not only identified the shooters but also provided logistical support.

The Crime Branch suspects that the planning for this shooting began well in advance. A statement from the Crime Branch noted that after the arrest of shooters and other suspects from Haryana, the Bishnoi gang realized that police could reach Golu. Consequently, Lawrence Bishnoi personally communicated with Golu through Arzu Bishnoi, instructing him not to reveal any information about his associates during interrogation. This is likely why the Crime Branch has been unable to extract any information from Golu even after 12 days in custody.

The Crime Branch also disclosed that the gang had prepared a backup plan. Currently, Golu Pandit is in judicial custody. The police had requested an extension of his remand, but the court has placed him in judicial custody after an 11-day police remand.
