Amravati, June 29: A significant fraud case has emerged in Amravati district, Maharashtra, where a social organization was duped of 51 lakh rupees under the pretense of securing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding. The Dariapur police have registered a case against two accused individuals and have initiated an investigation.
According to the police, the scam was orchestrated through a well-known company that promised to secure a CSR fund of 2 crore rupees. The complainant, associated with a social organization, was assured by the accused that a substantial amount of CSR funding could be obtained. They continuously demanded money from him under the guise of various procedures, documentation, and formalities.
It is alleged that the accused systematically misled the complainant and gradually extracted a total of 51 lakh rupees from him. Initially, to gain his trust, they provided several assurances and claimed to be connected to an influential network that could facilitate CSR funding.
The situation became more suspicious when the main accused, Akash Nayak, visited the complainant’s home after receiving the large sum of money but failed to return it afterward. Following this, the complainant made several attempts to contact both accused individuals, but received no response.
Realizing he had been defrauded, the complainant promptly lodged a report at the Dariapur police station. Based on the complaint, the police have filed charges against Akash Nayak, a resident of Nalasopara, and Arun Waghmare, who resides in Navi Mumbai.
Police officials stated that given the seriousness of the case, efforts to locate the accused have been intensified, with raids being conducted at their possible hideouts. Investigations are also underway to determine if a larger gang is involved in such fraudulent activities. The inquiry is ongoing.
They confirmed that a case has been registered based on the complainant’s statement, and a team has been formed to track down the accused. They are expected to be apprehended soon.
