
Patna, March 28: In a significant operation, police have seized a large quantity of brown sugar, valued at approximately ₹25 crore, along with raw materials for drug production. Patna’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Karthikeya Sharma confirmed the drug recovery on Saturday.
Speaking to reporters, SSP Sharma stated that they are investigating the rising cases of narcotics in the region. A raid was conducted yesterday in the Alamganj police station area, resulting in the arrest of two individuals. The police recovered cash and 1.6 kilograms of brown sugar, also known as smack.
During interrogation, the suspects revealed that a factory-like setup was established for drug production. Upon inspection, authorities found around 20 kilograms of raw materials and weapons. In total, approximately 21.018 kilograms of high-quality smack was seized, valued at around ₹25 crore.
Detailing the recovered items, SSP Sharma noted that the confiscated smack weighs nearly 21 kilograms. Additionally, two firearms, ammunition, and several blank and signed checks were also found.
SSP Sharma emphasized that action will soon be taken against others involved in drug trafficking and sales. He mentioned that they are monitoring suppliers and vendors, and arrests will be made shortly.
He also confirmed the involvement of a Bihar police member in the case. “A name has emerged linked to the Bihar police. We are in the process of gathering information. This individual is currently at large but will be apprehended and interrogated soon,” he stated.
