
New Delhi, June 20: In a significant operation against the illegal trade of narcotics and controlled substances, the Jyoti Nagar police team in New Delhi has achieved a major breakthrough. They have arrested two individuals and seized a substantial quantity of psychotropic substances and controlled medications under the NDPS Act.
According to police reports, an FIR numbered 279/2026 has been registered under sections 22, 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act. The arrested suspects have been identified as Shivam Garg (26) and Veerpal Garg (50).
On June 18, the Jyoti Nagar police received a tip-off regarding the illegal procurement and sale of controlled and banned drugs by the operators of M/S Garg Medicos located in Ashok Nagar. Acting on this information, the police collaborated with district drug inspectors from the GNCTD’s Drug Control Department. The operation took place at a medical store situated near Tyagi Dairy on Shukra Bazaar Road, Ashok Nagar.
During the joint inspection and investigation, the police and drug control team discovered a large quantity of psychotropic substances and controlled medications in the possession of the accused. Further inquiries revealed both suspects’ involvement in the illegal possession and sale of banned drugs. The police also conducted a search at the residence of the alleged store operator, where they recovered an additional 264 grams of tramadol capsules. Authorities stated that this seizure intensifies the seriousness of the case.
The recovered items included 607.50 grams of tramadol capsules, 45 grams of alprazolam tablets, 1.197 kilograms of codeine syrup, and 45 milliliters of tramadol injection. Following the arrests, the police checked the criminal records of both suspects. Initial verification indicated that neither had any prior criminal cases registered against them, and no previous criminal history was found.
The police continue to investigate to uncover the networks and individuals involved in the illegal trade of narcotics and psychotropic substances.
