Major Drug Bust in Jashpur: 18 Kilograms of Cannabis Seized from Hidden Chamber in Bolero, Three Smugglers Arrested

Jashpur, March 1: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Jashpur district, Chhattisgarh, made a major breakthrough. During a vehicle inspection last night, authorities discovered approximately 18 kilograms of cannabis hidden in a secret chamber of a Bolero vehicle. The estimated market value of the seized drugs is around 900,000 rupees. Additionally, the Bolero, valued at 1.4 million rupees, was confiscated, and three interstate smugglers were arrested.

According to reports, the Kunakuri police received a tip-off about a Bolero vehicle transporting a large quantity of cannabis. Acting on this information, a team led by DIG and SSP Dr. Lal Umed Singh, along with Additional SP Rakesh Patanwar and SDOP Vinod Kumar Mandavi, set up a blockade in the area. They stopped the suspicious Bolero and conducted a thorough search.

At first glance, the vehicle appeared normal. However, thanks to the police’s keen observation, they discovered a cleverly concealed chamber secured with bolts beneath the vehicle. Upon opening the chamber, they found 18 kilograms (some reports indicate 18.4 kilograms) of cannabis. The arrested individuals include Gola Raman Yadav (61), Shivram Yadav (26), and Rameshwar Yadav (30), all residents of Singrauli district in Madhya Pradesh.

During interrogation, the suspects admitted they were transporting the cannabis from Odisha to Madhya Pradesh. Authorities suspect that this operation is part of a larger interstate trafficking network. This action comes as a significant blow to drug traffickers ahead of the Holi festival.

DIG and SSP Dr. Lal Umed Singh stated, “The Jashpur police are taking strict and sensitive action against drug-related crimes. We will not spare the guilty under any circumstances.” He praised the police team, including Inspector Rakesh Yadav, ASI Manoj Sahu, and constables Mukesh, Jitendra Gupta, and Binod Tirki, for their crucial roles. This success is part of Jashpur police’s ongoing campaigns like ‘Operation Aghaat,’ aimed at combating drug trafficking. In recent months, Jashpur has seen several significant drug seizures, but this operation is particularly commendable due to the innovative techniques used to catch the traffickers.
