Major Arrest by Delhi Crime Branch: Notorious Snatcher Somveer Captured with Stolen Bike and Mobile Phones

New Delhi, May 24: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has made a significant breakthrough by arresting a notorious snatcher and wanted criminal, Somveer, also known as Sombir, aged 26. His arrest took place in the Trilokpuri area. According to police reports, Somveer has over 14 criminal cases registered against him, including robbery, snatching, theft, and violations of the Arms Act.

On May 20, the Crime Branch’s ARSC team received a tip-off indicating that Somveer would be meeting his associates near the Trilokpuri market while riding a stolen motorcycle, potentially planning a criminal act. Based on this information, a team was formed under Inspector K.K. Sharma, which included Sub-Inspectors Mohit Yadav and Amit Kumar, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Mohammad Talim and Shyam Singh, along with Head Constables Mahesh, Sunil, and Ravinder, and Constable Sumit Kumar, as well as Woman Constable Neeshu. The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP Sanjay Kumar Nagpal.

The police set a trap and successfully apprehended Somveer. During the search, they recovered a stolen motorcycle and two mobile phones from his possession. The motorcycle was found to have been stolen, as per FIR number 023966/25 registered at the Welcome police station. One of the mobile phones was identified as stolen under E-NCR number 1999999/24 from the Crime Branch, while the investigation into the second mobile phone is ongoing.

Further investigations revealed that Somveer was wanted in two cases at the Kalyanpuri police station, including snatching and violations of the Arms Act. Non-bailable warrants had already been issued against him by the court. To evade arrest, Somveer had been frequently changing his whereabouts and was currently residing in Trilokpuri.

Originally from Kalyanpuri, Somveer had to drop out of school after the eighth grade due to financial difficulties. He worked as a sanitation worker alongside his father. During this time, he became involved with habitual criminals in the area, gradually getting involved in crimes such as robbery, snatching, and theft. At the time of his arrest, he was working as both a sanitation worker and an auto driver.
