
Lucknow, March 25: In a significant move, the Rural Water Supply Department of Uttar Pradesh has taken strict action against engineers and staff for negligence in the Water Life Mission aimed at providing tap water to every rural household. A total of 26 engineers faced suspensions, departmental actions, and show-cause notices due to delays and carelessness in project execution.
Anurag Srivastava, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Namami Gange Department, has suspended 12 engineers, including Executive Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and Junior Engineers. Additionally, he has instructed departmental disciplinary inquiries against four Executive Engineers.
Furthermore, three Executive Engineers received show-cause notices for slow progress on project tasks. Complaints regarding various schemes also led to the transfer of seven engineers.
This action marks the largest crackdown on Water Corporation personnel for delays in recent times. Anurag Srivastava emphasized that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, the state government is committed to delivering tap water to every rural household. Any form of negligence will not be tolerated, and failure to improve work practices could result in termination.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring full transparency and accountability in public interest projects. The Rural Water Supply Department has taken suspension actions against several engineers, including Avinash Gupta from Lakhimpur Kheri, Soumitra Srivastava from Jaunpur, and Mohammad Qasim Hashmi from Ghazipur, among others.
The department has also ordered departmental inquiries against four engineers, including Aman Yadav from Auraiya and Ankit Yadav from Mainpuri. Additionally, show-cause notices were issued to three Executive Engineers stationed in Ghaziabad, Agra, and Mirzapur.
Assistant Engineer Vipin Kumar Verma has been transferred from Pratapgarh to Chandauli, along with several other engineers reassigned to different locations.
