Patna, March 30: Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the opposition in Bihar, has criticized the state government for its decision to raise electricity rates during peak hours. The national executive president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) stated on Monday that the Nitish-BJP alliance has once again reversed its promises.
Yadav pointed out that during the election campaign, they had promised free electricity for the first 125 units. However, within just four months, they have returned to their true colors, exploiting the public. He issued a statement revealing that in Bihar, from 11 PM to 5 AM, the highest consumption hours will now cost 8.10 rupees per unit, while from 11 PM to 9 AM, it will be 7.10 rupees, and for the remaining 8 hours, the rate will be 5.94 rupees per unit.
He warned that those who temporarily celebrated this government’s promises would soon face worse conditions. With only four months into the new administration, the state treasury is nearly empty, and corrupt officials will likely seize whatever remains.
Yadav accused the election commission of unethical practices and collusion with corrupt officials, claiming that the recent elections were marred by a cartel of the “corrupt bhujia party” that has disregarded democratic norms. He alleged that in the last 35 days leading up to the elections, 41,000 crores in cash from the government treasury was distributed, which will be collected back over the next five years.
He emphasized that the face that was manipulated under a calculated conspiracy is now sidelined by a corrupt and fearful syndicate. This democratic stain and the failure of their lofty promises will ultimately fall on their shoulders.
Yadav asserted that Bihar is now entering an unprecedented phase of rampant bribery, looting, and uncontrolled corruption.
