Main Suspect in Ganja Smuggling Case Arrested in Rajasthan

Kabirdham, October 12 (Daily Kiran) : Kabirdham police have successfully apprehended Ghanshyam Gurjar, the main suspect in a significant ganja smuggling case. The arrest took place in Rajasthan after a sustained effort led by the Chilfi police station under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav. Additional Superintendent of Police Hemasagar Sidar and Amit Kumar Patel also played crucial roles in the operation.

The investigation began on February 24, 2026, when police received a tip-off about a container vehicle concealing a large quantity of ganja. Acting on this information, officers set up a blockade on National Highway 30 and stopped the suspicious vehicle for inspection. During the search, they discovered ganja hidden in secret compartments within the container, packed in various packets.

In total, police seized 927.645 kilograms of ganja, valued at approximately ₹4.63 crore. They also confiscated the container vehicle, estimated to be worth ₹30 lakh. The police registered a case at the Chilfi station and initiated an investigation.

As the inquiry progressed, evidence gathered from previously arrested suspects pointed to Gurjar’s involvement in the smuggling operation. He had been on the run since the incident, prompting the Chilfi police to conduct extensive searches in various locations, including dispatching teams to Rajasthan.

On October 9, 2026, police arrested Gurjar in the Behror area of Kotputli-Bahrod district in Rajasthan. Following his arrest, the police obtained a transit remand to bring him back to Kabirdham. Upon his return, he was interrogated by the Chilfi police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF).

Gurjar was presented before a judge on October 12, 2026, where he was remanded to judicial custody. The investigation into the case is ongoing, with commendable contributions from the Cyber Police, ANTF, and Chilfi police teams.
