Main Accused Killed in Encounter in Ayush Murder Case, Accomplice Injured in Chitrakoot

Chitrakoot, January 23: A shocking incident in the Bargadh police station area of Chitrakoot district has left the local community in deep distress. Ayush, the 14-year-old son of cloth merchant Ashok Kesarwani, was abducted and brutally murdered after the kidnappers’ ransom demand was not met. Police launched an immediate investigation and in a subsequent encounter, the main accused was killed while his accomplice was injured.

Kidnapping and Murder Details

The incident occurred on Thursday evening when Ayush was playing with his friends after returning from tuition classes. Suddenly, he was abducted. Within a few hours, the kidnappers contacted the family demanding a ransom of Rs 40 lakh. The family quickly alerted the police. Investigation through CCTV footage and local inquiries revealed that Irfan and Akram alias Kallu, who run a tin box shop nearby and belong to Karma police station area of Prayagraj, were responsible for the crime.

Ayush’s body was recovered on Friday morning. The investigation confirmed that the kidnappers strangled the boy to death after failing to obtain the ransom and tried to dispose of the body by placing it inside a box. The discovery sparked massive outrage in Bargadh town, leading to protests near the police station. Police had to use force and persuasion to control the agitated crowd.

Police Encounter and Arrest Efforts

Following the incident, police teams from multiple stations, including the Special Operations Group (SOG), intensified the search for the culprits. Early on Friday, a shootout occurred in the Puranu Baba forest area between the police and the accused. During the encounter, the main accused Akram alias Kallu was shot dead on the spot. The other accused, Irfan, was injured by a bullet in his leg and admitted to hospital for treatment. Police stated that a third accomplice remains at large and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing.

Security Concerns and Ongoing Investigation

District Superintendent of Police Arun Kumar Singh, along with the Additional Superintendent of Police and a strong police force, were present at the scene. The area remains tense with highway blockades and protests continuing as locals express their anger. Police have appealed for peace and urged the public to maintain calm. The incident has raised serious concerns about safety in the community. The investigation continues, and authorities have assured that the remaining accused will be caught soon.
