The arrest occurred near the KGMU Trauma Center, where Lodhi was receiving treatment and was reportedly planning to flee after being discharged. Following his arrest, legal proceedings against him have commenced.
The case was initiated on May 31, 2026, when the complainant, Sunil Kumar Verma, filed a report with the police. He alleged that his 23-year-old niece was tortured by her in-laws over additional dowry demands, leading to her eventual murder. Based on this complaint, a case was registered at the Saadatganj police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Dowry Prohibition Act.
During the investigation, police identified the deceased’s husband, Sagar Rajput, and others as co-accused. Subsequently, Sagar Lodhi’s name emerged as a key suspect, and he had been evading capture.

Upon his arrest, the police requested Lodhi to provide his name and address, confirming his identity. He was then taken into custody and brought to the police station. Authorities have stated that further legal action is being taken against him, and the investigation remains ongoing.
