Kolkata, July 1: Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Mahua Moitra has accused BJP workers of throwing eggs at her during a meeting with party leaders in her Lok Sabha constituency. She claimed that BJP supporters arrived at the scene and began hurling eggs from outside.
On the social media platform X, Moitra released a video stating, “The DGP of West Bengal is not answering my calls. I was in a meeting at my constituency office when a large group of BJP supporters gathered outside. They were throwing eggs and stones through the windows.”
She further mentioned that the eggs and stones thrown by BJP workers hit her and ruined her clothes. “I called the police, but received no assistance. After I reached out to you, the police arrived, but they just stood by and watched,” she said.
Moitra added, “I am not leaving this place. DGP sir, it is your responsibility to disperse the crowd. They must be removed. I hope you will see this video. You are an IPS officer and the DGP of West Bengal. I trust you will soon order the crowd to be cleared.”
In another video, she expressed, “We are under attack, and the police are doing nothing. I am the MP here, and this crowd is attacking me while the police and CRPF merely observe.”
Moitra wrote on X, “For the past two hours, your police have been watching the spectacle and not dispersing the crowd. They want me to flee, and when I get into my car, they throw eggs or stones at me. Please do your job. Remove the crowd. I will not leave this way.”
It is noteworthy that after the results of the West Bengal Assembly elections, several TMC leaders faced similar egg attacks. Now, TMC MP Mahua Moitra has raised the same allegations and is demanding immediate action from the police.
