Macrons Visit to India: Strengthening Strategic Ties with PM Modi

Mumbai, February 17: French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in India on Tuesday. His visit aims to further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and France. He was welcomed at Mumbai Airport by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and the Governors of Maharashtra and Gujarat, Acharya Devvrat.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Macron. The two leaders will also launch the India-France Year of Innovation 2026 together.

The Ministry welcomed President Macron on the social media platform ‘X’, stating that this visit will accelerate the India-France strategic partnership.

Before departing for India, President Macron posted on ‘X’ that he is on a three-day trip from Mumbai to New Delhi to advance the strategic partnership between the two countries. He mentioned that key figures from trade, industry, culture, and the digital sector are accompanying him, playing a vital role in strengthening bilateral relations.

He further stated, “Together, we will advance our cooperation. See you tomorrow, my dear friend Narendra Modi.”

President Macron is visiting India at the invitation of the government to participate in the AI Impact Summit. During this trip, he will also attend the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi on February 19.

On Tuesday, a meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will take place in Mumbai. The two leaders will review the progress made under the India-France strategic partnership and exchange views on regional and global issues.

President Macron will be on an official visit to India from February 17 to 19. This marks his fourth visit to India and his first official event in Mumbai. The bilateral talks between Prime Minister Modi and President Macron are scheduled for around 3:15 PM at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the discussions will include a comprehensive review of the progress made under the India-France strategic partnership.

Later, at approximately 5:15 PM, Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will jointly inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. Business leaders, startup founders, researchers, and innovators from both countries will also be present at this occasion.
