Goa, October 19 (Daily Kiran) : Actress Lisa Ray recently highlighted the vibrant celebrations of Durga Puja in Goa. She shared her experiences from a nearby village where the local Bengali community came together to create a ‘pujo bari’ (prayer space) for the festival.

On the occasion of Mahashtami, Lisa took to Instagram to express her joy while spending time with her twin daughters, whom she affectionately calls her “little goddesses.” She revealed that her daughters performed at various pandals across Goa. In her post, she wrote, “Happy Mahashtami! I was busy with my little goddesses, who performed at several pandals in Goa in collaboration with the Performing Arts and Culture Academy. A heartfelt thanks to Maumita Pal for pouring her soul into this tribute for the mother.”

Lisa noted that this year, the Bengali community in a neighboring village set up a pujo bari named ‘Amandar Puja.’ According to her, the event showcased various aspects of Durga Puja, including children playing, offerings, cultural performances, community bonding, devotion, and heartfelt emotions.

She remarked, “This year, the Bengali community in a nearby village has created a beautiful pujo bari—Amandar Puja. It features the most special aspects of the festival, such as children running around, delicious offerings, cultural programs, community engagement, devotion, and emotions.”

Through videos and photos shared by friends on social media, Lisa provided glimpses of the festivities. She encouraged her followers to look closely to spot her twin daughters dressed in yellow, dancing with other children during the Durga Puja celebrations.

Ending her post with warm wishes, she wrote, “Shubho Sharodiya.”

Previously, Lisa had spoken about her deep connection to her Bengali roots, explaining how celebrating Durga Puja in various cities around the world has helped her stay connected to her culture and traditions.

In an emotional note on Instagram, she recounted her experiences of growing up celebrating Durga Puja in Toronto and how she later witnessed similar festive atmospheres in places like Hong Kong and Dubai.

Lisa wrote, “The sound of the dhak. A familiar rhythm that resonates deeper than memories. And just like that, the mother arrives here. This year, I’m thrilled to celebrate Shashthi, Bodhon, and Adhivas in Goa, a little piece of Bengal in my new home. I grew up celebrating Durga Puja in Toronto, and over the years, I’ve found my mother in Hong Kong, Dubai, and wherever life has taken me. The cities may differ, the communities may vary, but the feeling that rises in the heart remains the same.”
