Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai Takes Command of Kumaon Regiment and Naga Regiment

New Delhi, March 23: Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai, the Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Strategy) of the Indian Army, has officially taken command of the Kumaon Regiment, Kumaon Scouts, and Naga Regiment. He succeeds Lieutenant General Ram Chandra Tiwari, the outgoing General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command.

Upon assuming his new role, Lieutenant General Ghai expressed pride in leading these esteemed regiments, known for their exceptional valor, rich heritage, and unwavering commitment to the nation. He acknowledged the outstanding leadership and contributions of the previous Colonel, highlighting the continuity of legacy that strengthens the regiments’ morale, team spirit, and operational excellence across all ranks.

Lieutenant General Ghai is recognized for his strategic thinking and decisive actions against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, as well as his balanced approach to military diplomacy. His speeches and press conferences during Operation Sindoor gained significant attention, where he exposed falsehoods from Pakistan and showcased India’s military capabilities. Notably, during Operation Sindoor, the Pakistani DGMO reached out to him, pleading for a ceasefire.

With extensive experience in counter-insurgency and high-altitude operations in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant General Ghai has made significant revelations in incidents like the Pahalgam terror attack. Throughout his service in the Indian Army, he has led several major operations and previously served as the GOC of the Chinar Corps. His pivotal role in various missions against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir is well acknowledged.

Before his current appointment, Lieutenant General Ghai was stationed as the Major General Staff in the Northern Command based in Udhampur. In addition to his service in Kashmir and Jammu, he has also served as the GOC of the 56 Infantry Division in the Northeast.
