New Delhi, March 15: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Kanshiram, the founder of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), prominent leaders paid their respects on Sunday. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, BSP Chief Mayawati, BSP MLA Umashankar Singh, and Bhim Army leader Chandrashekhar Azad (Ravan) were among those who remembered him.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his tribute on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “I pay my humble respects to Kanshiram, a champion of social justice who dedicated his entire life to the upliftment of the Dalit, oppressed, and marginalized communities.” He emphasized that Kanshiram’s life was devoted to the rights and dignity of society’s weaker sections.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also honored him, saying that Kanshiram was the voice of the marginalized and oppressed. He noted that Kanshiram’s struggle for equality, self-respect, and social awareness continues to inspire society to remain vigilant about justice and rights.
BSP Chief Mayawati also paid tribute on ‘X’, stating that on this day, followers of Kanshiram honor him with deep respect. She highlighted that Kanshiram worked to organize the Bahujan community, advancing the thoughts of Baba Saheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
BSP MLA Umashankar Singh remembered him as a beloved leader who fought for the upliftment of the Dalit, marginalized, and oppressed communities throughout his life.
Chandrashekhar Azad (Ravan), the leader of the Bhim Army and co-founder of the Azad Samaj Party, also paid his respects, stating that Kanshiram awakened a sleeping community and made the Bahujan society aware of their rights.
Meanwhile, a celebration of Kanshiram’s birth anniversary will take place on Sunday at the Kanshiram Memorial site on VIP Road in Lucknow. According to BSP leaders, this event, organized under the party’s banner, will see workers from Awadh and Purvanchal, among other regions, gather to pay tribute to Kanshiram. Supporters and workers have been invited to participate in the event.
