Maharashtra Chief Minister Accuses Congress and Rahul Gandhi of Plotting Against Constitution

Maharashtras CM Devendra Fadnavis criticizes Congress and Rahul Gandhi for allegedly undermining the Constitution in a recent rally.

Mumbai, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a sharp attack on the Congress Party and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of orchestrating an international conspiracy aimed at destabilizing the Indian Constitution. Speaking at a “Save Democracy and Constitution” rally, Fadnavis asserted that the nation desires Prime Minister Narendra Modi to remain in power and that the ruling coalition is committed to protecting democracy.

Fadnavis emphasized that this struggle is not against Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), or the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), but rather a covert battle for the Constitution’s preservation. He urged citizens to join in this fight, stating that the Constitution must endure despite ideological differences, as long as the sun and moon exist.

He accused Congress of attempting to establish an “ultra-leftist regime,” claiming that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar taught the importance of safeguarding democracy, while Rahul Gandhi aims to create a system contrary to these principles. Fadnavis directly targeted Gandhi’s lineage and political standing, questioning his authority. “This is India, and Dr. Ambedkar’s Constitution is here. Your grandmother (Indira Gandhi) tried to dismantle it, but she failed. Who are you, Rahul Gandhi?” he asked.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the fight is not for the BJP but for the defense of the Constitution, calling on citizens to remain resolute until the current crisis passes. He accused Congress and its allies of conducting daily protests under an international conspiracy to alter the Constitution and dismantle its framework.

Fadnavis explained that political reorganization aimed at changing the Constitution and all national institutions is what they term “power change.” He cited examples from neighboring countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, where power shifts and constitutional amendments have occurred. Despite being questioned multiple times, he openly stated that they desire a change in power. He also referred to Uddhav Thackeray’s comments on the same issue, asserting that as long as there is blood in their veins, they will not allow a power change. “We will not let democracy be endangered, nor will we allow tampering with the Constitution,” he declared.

Recalling the Emergency period, Fadnavis highlighted how former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s election was invalidated by the Supreme Court, noting that while she remained Prime Minister, she could neither speak nor vote in the Lok Sabha. Despite this, he pointed out that the Congress party claimed the Prime Minister was above the Constitution.
