The Rajasthan High Court took cognizance of the matter and summoned the Police Commissioner, DCP, and CI. After watching the video, the court reprimanded the officials.

Jodhpur, December 2 (Daily Kiran). Station House Officer Hameer Singh and Reader (Constable) Narendra Singh have been suspended in the case of misbehavior and scuffle with advocate Bharat Singh Rathore at Kudi Bhagtasni Housing Board Police Station. Police Commissioner Om Prakash has issued orders in this regard. After receiving the suspension order copy, lawyers took out a victory rally. Earlier, the Rajasthan High Court had taken cognizance of the misbehavior case with the lawyer at the police station and summoned the Police Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner of Police West, and Kudi Station House Officer on Tuesday morning. Police Commissioner Om Prakash, DCP West Vineet Bansal, ACP, and Station House Officer Hameer Singh had reached the court.

Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice BS Sandhu were shown a video of the misbehavior with the lawyer at the police station. After watching the video, the court severely reprimanded Police Commissioner Om Prakash. The court directed the Jodhpur Police Commissioner and the government that all police personnel should be given soft skill training. They should know how to talk to whom, how to behave with people – the police should know this. The court said that police need training on how to behave with the public, complainants, and advocates.

The court also said that they are not giving any written orders in this matter, but expect that action will be taken according to service rules. On behalf of the advocates, senior advocates Sachin Acharya and Digvijay Singh Jasol argued that action should be taken against the police officer according to service rules. They said that despite the presence of a female advocate at the police station, the police did not maintain restraint.

IPS Rank Officer Will Investigate:

The Police Commissioner told the court that an IPS-level officer is conducting the investigation. The next hearing will be held after one week. Along with this, the police have been directed to present an investigation report of the entire incident sequence in court. The Police Commissioner told the court that he will take strict action in this regard and will try to ensure that such incidents do not happen in the future.

What is the Matter:

It should be noted that advocate Bharat Singh had gone to the police station with his client to give a statement. The constable who asked for the Aadhaar card was not wearing uniform. When the advocate objected to this, Station House Officer Hameer Singh misbehaved with the advocate and asked police personnel to book him under breach of peace charges. The police personnel then made the advocate sit in a room. After this, the matter escalated. A sit-in protest was held at the police station at night and a boycott of judicial work was announced. Due to lawyers not coming to court, the High Court summoned the Police Commissioner in this matter. After the hearing, the advocate organization was adamant on suspending the entire police station instead of just removing the Station House Officer.

Lawyers Sat All Night, Burnt Effigy:

In protest against this attitude of the police, all lawyers sat on dharna outside Kudi police station throughout the night. Lawyers protesting under the banner of Rajasthan High Court Advocates Association and Rajasthan High Court Lawyers Association Jodhpur demanded strict action against the guilty police personnel. Some lawyers brought a symbolic effigy of the police and set it on fire. Lawyers said they will stay put until the written suspension order of the SHO comes. Lawyers announced to continue the agitation until written suspension orders of the Station House Officer are issued. Lawyers demanded action on the entire Kudi Bhagtasni Housing Board police station. Lawyers say that police personnel had threatened to detain lawyers under Section 151. The entire team of that police station should be detained under Section 151.
