
Mumbai, May 11: In a thrilling encounter of IPL 2026, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) triumphed over Mumbai Indians (MI) by 2 wickets. The match took place at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, where RCB successfully chased down a target of 167 runs, achieving victory on the last ball while losing 8 wickets. This defeat has eliminated MI from the playoff race.
RCB’s chase did not start well. Virat Kohli was dismissed for a ‘golden duck’ by Deepak Chahar. Following him, Devdutt Padikkal managed only 12 runs off 11 balls before getting out. Captain Rajat Patidar also struggled, scoring just 8 runs. Jacob Bethel failed to capitalize on a good start, falling for 27 runs to Corbin Bosch.
Jitesh Sharma scored 18 runs off 12 balls before being dismissed, while Tim David was caught by Ryan Rickelton off Bosch’s very first delivery. Krunal Pandya, however, shone brightly, scoring an impressive 73 runs off 46 balls, including 4 fours and 5 sixes. Bhuvneshwar Kumar remained unbeaten on 7 runs from 2 balls, and Rasikh Salam contributed 3 not out, steering the team to victory. Corbin Bosch was the standout bowler for MI, taking 4 wickets for 26 runs, while Deepak Chahar claimed 2 wickets.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians set a total of 166 runs, losing 7 wickets in their 20 overs. MI had a rocky start, with Ryan Rickelton dismissed for just 2 runs by Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the first over. Rohit Sharma scored 22 runs off 10 balls before getting out. Suryakumar Yadav continued his poor form, failing to score. Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma built a solid partnership for the fourth wicket, adding 82 runs off 57 balls.
Naman scored 47 runs from 32 balls, while Tilak made 57 runs off 42 balls, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was exceptional with the ball for RCB, taking 4 wickets for just 23 runs. Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam, and Romario Shepherd each took one wicket. With this victory, RCB now has 14 points, climbing to the top of the points table.
