Mumbai, 7 December. Actress Kriti Shetty is currently in the spotlight for her upcoming Tamil film ‘Va Vaathiyar’. In the film, she plays the role of a spirit reader. Recently, Kriti revealed an unusual experience from her real life. In an interview, she shared that just one night before the shooting began, she saw a spirit in her hotel room.

This incident not only shook her deeply but also strengthened her belief in the character she was to portray.

Speaking about the role, Kriti said, “I am playing a girl in director Nalan Kumarasamy’s film who talks to spirits and feels emotions and energy much more deeply than others. Such characters are rarely seen in Indian cinema, so it was a new and exciting experience for me. While preparing for the role, I never imagined that something like this could happen in real life.”

Kriti added, “I have believed in spirits since childhood. I come from the Tulu community, where ancestors are worshipped. It is believed that our ancestors are always around us, guiding us. I was somewhat familiar with the concept of spirits, but the experience before shooting was very disturbing for me.”

She explained, “The team and I were staying at a hotel for the shoot. That night, I sensed a figure. I did not see the full face but clearly felt a shadow-like shape. When I switched on the light suddenly, there was a loud noise. My mother was with me at that time. We both felt this was not an ordinary event. The experience was so real that it could not be dismissed as imagination or illusion.”

Kriti said, “While playing the spirit reader, I thought audiences might find such things unbelievable. But after this incident, it felt like a sign encouraging me to fully embrace this character.”

Alongside Kriti, actor Karthi plays the lead role as a police officer in ‘Va Vaathiyar’.
