Kohli and Rohit Set to Make History at Lords with 400th International Match

New Delhi, July 18: The third and final ODI between India and England is set to take place at Lord’s Cricket Stadium in London this Sunday. As they take the field, the duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will achieve a significant milestone.

Kohli and Rohit will play their 400th international match together, becoming the first Indian pair to reach this landmark. They have already surpassed the legendary partnership of Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid, who played 391 matches together for India.

The world record for the most international matches played together is held by Sri Lankan legends Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene, who played 550 matches as a pair.

In the ongoing ODI series against England, Rohit Sharma’s performance has been underwhelming, scoring only 37 runs across two matches. In the second ODI, he managed just 26 runs off 47 balls, failing to capitalize on a promising start. Speculation about Rohit’s future has been rampant, with some reports suggesting that the Lord’s ODI could be his last. However, BCCI Secretary Devjeet Saikia has dismissed all such rumors.

On the other hand, Virat Kohli displayed excellent form in the second ODI, scoring a solid 65 runs off 66 balls under challenging conditions. He hit eight boundaries and formed crucial partnerships, including a 60-run stand for the second wicket with Rohit and a 67-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Shreyas Iyer.
