Kiren Rijiju Responds Firmly to No-Confidence Motion Against Lok Sabha Speaker

New Delhi, March 9: The second part of the Parliament’s budget session is set to commence on Monday, prompting a strong reaction from Union Minister Kiren Rijiju. He expressed disappointment that the session’s opening will be marked by a no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker, introduced by the main opposition party, Congress.

In an interview with a news agency, Rijiju stated, “I want to make it clear that we will respond to this no-confidence motion. No one should have any objections to that. However, my direct question is, how much further will you go to undermine constitutional dignity?”

Rijiju emphasized that Congress has reached a point where they disregard everything, including democracy and constitutional institutions. He criticized the party for mocking every constitutional body and damaging their dignity, which he believes cannot be accepted under any circumstances. He remarked that Congress now seems to be loyal only to one family, prioritizing that allegiance over the broader interests of the nation.

He further noted that the position of Lok Sabha Speaker is the last remaining institution among us. “We had hoped that Congress would spare this position, but unfortunately, they have shown no hesitation in undermining its dignity,” he added.

Rijiju also referred to the no-confidence motion against the Lok Sabha Speaker, asserting, “I will definitely respond to Congress. I want to be clear that they will regret bringing this motion against the Speaker.”
