Mumbai, July 19: Anand Dubey, spokesperson for Shiv Sena (UBT), emphasized the need for serious discussions on critical national issues during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament, starting July 20. He stated that the functioning of Parliament is funded by taxpayer money, making it essential for both the ruling and opposition parties to ensure smooth proceedings and meaningful debates on public interest matters.
In an interview with a news agency, Dubey highlighted that the session should address pressing topics such as the NEET paper leak, rising inflation, corruption, the theft incident at the Ram Temple, and the global war-like situations. He also stressed the importance of discussing India’s foreign policy and diplomatic strategies in Parliament.
Dubey appealed to the Lok Sabha Speaker and the Parliamentary Affairs Minister to ensure that Parliament operates without disruption. He pointed out that millions of rupees from taxpayer funds are spent on the functioning of Parliament, and this money should not go to waste. He humorously remarked that since this is the Monsoon Session, it should not be said later that everything was “washed away by the monsoon rains.” A positive atmosphere in Parliament could lead to significant decisions in favor of the public and strengthen trust in democracy.
Regarding the alleged threats received by actor Aamir Khan from gangsters, Dubey advised anyone receiving threats to report immediately to the police. He assured that the law would take its course and that the police would investigate who issued the threats and for what purpose. He recalled that actor Salman Khan had also received threats, and incidents like the daylight murder of Baba Siddiqui highlight the need for the government to understand why such threats are occurring and who is behind them. If anyone is found guilty, strict action and arrests should follow.
Dubey reflected on the past when threats were common from criminal gangs like Dawood Ibrahim’s D-gang in the 1990s. He questioned the government’s claims of having eradicated major criminal gangs, asking where these new threats are coming from and who is behind them. As ordinary citizens, people can only inform the police; the responsibility for action lies with law enforcement and the administration.
Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks labeling the Aam Aadmi Party as a “hardcore corrupt party” in Jalandhar, Dubey noted that elections are approaching in Punjab, and the BJP is attempting to strengthen its political foothold. With the AAP currently in power in Punjab, the Prime Minister’s attacks on the opposition are part of the political process. Just as the BJP criticizes the opposition, the opposition also critiques the BJP. Accusations and counter-accusations are a normal part of democratic politics.
On Uddhav Thackeray‘s “Ram Raksha Andolan,” Dubey stated that the recitation of the Ram Raksha Stotra and Hanuman Chalisa has been a tradition in Maharashtra for centuries. The theft at the Ram Temple has caused distress and anger among devotees. He prayed that the culprits receive punishment and that an administrative system is established to prevent such incidents in the future. Worshipping Lord Ram and Hanuman is a right for every individual, and no one can monopolize this practice.
Criticizing the BJP, he asserted that it is not right for anyone to claim exclusive rights to speak about Hindutva or Lord Ram. He reiterated that Shiv Sena (UBT) and Uddhav Thackeray have consistently expressed their faith in Lord Ram. Dubey further mentioned that after becoming Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray visited Ayodhya. In 2022, the then Shiv Sena-led team from Maharashtra also visited Ayodhya. On January 22, 2024, when Shiv Sena (UBT) leaders were not invited to the Ram Temple consecration ceremony, they went to worship at the Kalaram Temple in Nashik. Worshipping Lord Ram is a matter of faith for society as a whole, and every individual has an equal right to perform their worship.
