New Delhi, October 26 (Daily Kiran) : As the winter chill begins to set in, many travelers are looking forward to exploring the unique joys of the season. For those planning a trip between October and March, Uttar Pradesh offers three remarkable spiritual cities: Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Ayodhya.
Visiting Prayagraj during winter is a special experience. The pleasant weather makes it ideal for strolling through open fields and along the ghats. Travelers can immerse themselves in spirituality by visiting sites like the Triveni Sangam, the Hanuman Temple, Akshayavat, and Patalpuri Temple, along with the Manakameshwar Temple and the Alopi Devi Temple.
History buffs can explore Anand Bhawan, Swaraj Bhawan, and Khusro Bagh. Other attractions include the Patthar Girja and Chandrashekhar Azad Park, as well as the Aril Ghat and the New Yamuna Bridge. Anyone visiting during this season should not miss the annual Magh Mela, where the Sangam area buzzes with spiritual fervor.
No trip to Prayagraj is complete without savoring the winter delicacies, such as jaggery jalebi, hot chole-samosas, masala chur-mura, and kulhar chai. Visitors can find comfortable and modern accommodations in Civil Lines or near Triveni. For those looking to experience the spirituality of the Kumbh Mela or Magh Mela, staying in the temporary tent city can be a memorable option.
Similarly, a winter visit to Varanasi is equally delightful. The season is perfect for experiencing the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Dashashwamedh Ghat, and the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti. Morning boat rides on the Ganges and visits to Assi Ghat and Sarnath enhance the spiritual journey.
In Varanasi, guests can also enjoy the narrow lanes filled with street food, along with visits to Lalita Ghat, Nepali Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple, and Durga Kund. Winter treats like malaiyo, kachori-sabzi, jalebi, chura matar, and the famous Banarasi paan make the culinary experience unforgettable. The best areas to stay during this time are near the ghats, in Godaulia, Sigra, and around the Cantonment Station.
A winter trip to Ayodhya offers a pleasant experience as well. The cool weather is perfect for exploring the blend of spirituality, architecture, and history. The highlight is the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, where visitors can feel a unique excitement while seeking blessings from Lord Ram.
No visit to Ayodhya is complete without a trip to Hanumangarhi, where it is believed that one should visit Hanuman Ji before seeking blessings from Lord Ram. Climbing the 76 steps to the temple invigorates visitors, especially in the winter. Other notable sites include Kanak Bhawan, which features a stunning palace-like temple dedicated to Mata Sita and Lord Ram. Evening aarti along the banks of the Sarayu River, with lit diyas and mist, creates a magical atmosphere.
In Ayodhya, travelers can also visit Dashrath Mahal, Mani Parvat, Gulab Bagh, and the tomb of Nawab Shuja-ud-Daula, surrounded by beautiful rose gardens. Winter delicacies such as kachori-sabzi and warm rabdi-jalebi are a must-try. There are plenty of accommodation options available, ranging from dharamshalas to budget and luxury hotels.
